At McGee Street Animal Hospital, we have provided laser surgery since 2003. Dr. Emmert’s education and experience combined with the benefits of the laser gives your pets many advantages for surgery.
These include less pain and swelling, less bleeding, and a cleaner surgical environment. We are also able to combine our laser with a video scope allowing us to perform surgery in more difficult areas such as the ear and mouth.
On-Site Laboratory
Our on-site laboratory provides rapidly needed information, which enables us to give your pets immediate care. We have the latest equipment for a variety of tests with fast, accurate results.
Digital Radiology
Digital radiology is the best method for x-rays on the market. This equipment gives greater detail with less radiation and decreased exposure.
Physical Rehabilitation
Physical rehabilitation for pets is like physical therapy for people. We provide this service for post surgical patients, neurologic injuries, arthritis patients, and weight management. The goals are to improve function and speed healing. These give your pets increased physical ability and better long term health. The faster your pet can return to normal function, the better their body will heal and have lasting healthy tissue.
Underwater Treadmill
An underwater treadmill allows your pet to exercise in water, which has many benefits.
The warm water is adjusted to each patient to decrease the weight they carry and give resistance. It also increases blood flow to tissues and increases the range of motion in their joints over just walking. This is an invaluable tool for pets having difficulty moving or bearing weight. Virtually every dog will quickly adapt to the water and most will begin to enjoy it. Cats can even be rehabilitated in this way.
Therapeutic Laser
Our therapeutic laser is becoming very popular with our patients for a variety of treatments. This tool is used to treat arthritis without pain or sedation. It also helps soothe sore muscles and speed wound healing. Treatments are quick and virtually sensation free.
Lithotripsy
Lithotripsy is shock wave therapy used for arthritis, hip dysplasia, and herniated spinal discs. This can be an exceptional tool to help patients gain better function without surgery. These procedures are very quick but do require brief anesthesia.
Gait Analysis
We also provide gait analysis with a treadmill, electrical muscle stimulation, and therapeutic ultrasound as a part of our rehabilitation programs. Complementing these are a variety of physical exercises we conduct regularly along with home therapy programs.
If you are not a client of McGee Street Animal Hospital, just ask your regular veterinarian for a referral for physical rehabilitation. We will work with your veterinarian to achieve the best possible outcome for your pets!
